Written toward the end 2003, Holy, Mighty has proved to be one of the most popular worship songs ever at CHS.
It's simple melody and timeless lyrics seems to resonate with the need to praise a most incredible God.
It was this song that created the platform to record Finally Free in 2005.
Long time worship pastor and friend, Charlie Groves had recently returned to the UK (though he still recorded all the electric guitars), leaving Joel Sales to fill his shoes at CHS. Joel was a great encouragement and help in the recording, lending some great bass lines along with Gordon Miles. Kerryn Torrance once again played violin while Clive Pringle added some beautiful cello parts to Rise and Overflowing love. Still a home recording done on my Yamaha AW4416, this time real drums were used with both Frank Forbay and Manuel Gomez testing the neighbours good will. Finally Free immediately proved to be an extremely popular album as it's mixture of worship and worshipful songs appealed to a wide range of listeners. Beautiful is perhaps my favourite song on the album, though the catchy Overflowing love and uptempo Someone like You are equally appealing. |
