Almost five years after Finally Free, I felt the time was right for a new album.   Wanting to be a little more professional, I approached Andre De Villiers for some advice and he kindly threw his support behind the project by offering his studio.   Matt Allison agreed to co-produce the project and brought a wealth of recording experience and enthusiasm to the album and it's largely thanks to him that Faithful is what it is.   The bulk of the recording was done in two weeks in November 2009 at Andre's studio in Tableview.   James Porter played drums, Shaun Johannes bass and Morne van der Merwe electric guitars - all of whom added far more than I ever expected.   The album was mixed in February 2010 by David Langemann and mastered by Tim Lengfeld.

As my understanding of worship has developed over the years, so has the focus of my songs.   While Finally Free contained mostly corporate worship songs, Faithful contains a collection of songs that are hopefully as challenging as they are worshipful.

Bride is a reminder to be constantly expecting Jesus' return, while Crush is a beautiful invitation to see God's fingerprints - even in disappointment.   Whore is a call to forsake sin and the hard hitting introspection of Worth dying for questions whether we are living the life God called us to.

These challenging songs are balanced throughout by songs of worship and hope.   Through it all is a tribute to the work that Habitat For Humanity is doing in South Africa, while Lift His praises high, In safe hands and the title track, Faithful are full of encouragement.   My personal favourite, Open my eyes, is a song of hope about desperately needing to hear God's voice.
